CHERNARUS LITE REPRESENTS A COMMUNITY CREATION, FROM AND FOR THE DAYZ COMMUNITY, 100% FREE AND COMPATIBLE WITH BOTH PC AND CONSOLES. CONSISTING OF A REDUCED VERSION OF THE CURRENT CHERNARUS MAP, IN ADDITION TO A CUSTOM MISSION CONFIGURATION (VANILLA ORIENTATION), NEW POINTS OF INTEREST AROUND THE MAP, MORE THAN 11.000 MANUALLY PACED OBJECTS AND QUALITY OF LIFE ADDITIONS. IT TRIES TO OFFER A MORE DYNAMIC EXPERIENCE, STILL WITHIN THE LIMITS OF VANILLA CONTENT. WITH A PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO PERFORMANCE (CLIENT AND SERVER) AND BALANCE. CHERNARUS LITE CAN BE USED AS THE PRE-SET BASE STRUCTURE OF ANY SERVER (PC OR CONSOLES).

WHY DID THIS PROJECT ARISE?

IT IS A PERSONAL ADVENTURE. WE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO SOMETHING FROM AND FOR THE DAYZ COMMUNITY WITHOUT ANY PROFIT MOTIVE OR PARTICULAR SERVER PROMOTION/EXCLUSIVITY. SECONDLY, BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THERE IS A GAP THAT NEEDS TO BE FILLED IN CASES SUCH AS: A) AN ABSENCE OF SMALLER MAPS (CONSOLES) SINCE MODDING IS NOT POSSIBLE OVER THERE. B) SERVERS THAT WANT TO USE THE FANTASTIC SCENARIO PROVIDED BY CHERNARUS BUT THEY JUST DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH PLAYERBASE (+50) TO MAKE IT ENJOYABLE DUE ITS HUGE SIZE. C) VANILLA SERVERS WHO SIMPLY WANT TO TRY/OFFER A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE TRADITIONAL DAYZ BOUNDARIES. D) COMMUNITIES/SERVERS THAT MAY NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO SUPPORT 80 PEOPLE ON ONE MAP.

WILL BE CONSOLES COMPATIBLE?

YES. HAVING DESIGNED THE ENTIRE PROJECT USING ONLY CONSOLE COMPATIBLE TOOLS (JSON, CFGGAMEPLAY, XML FILES, VANILLA ASSETS AND STATICOBJ...), IS GOING TO BE PERFECTLY COMPATIBLE WITH BOTH PS4 AND XBOX. WE KNOW THAT CONSOLES COMMUNITIES ARE URGING FOR A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE SINCE THE BENEFITS OF MODDING ARE NOT PRESENT THERE, SO WE EXPECT IT TO BE A LOT MORE INTERESTING FOR THOSE PLATFORMS.

FREE PROJECT OR EXCLUSIVE SERVER?

CHERNARUS LITE IS A FREE COMMUNITY PROJECT AND EVERYONE WILL BE ABLE TO USE IT. WILL NOT BE LINKED TO ANY PARTICULAR SERVER, THERE WILL BE NO EXCLUSIVITY, NO PAYWALLS OR MONETIZED CONTENT. WE HAVE FINANCED THE WHOLE PROJECT OUT OF OUR OWN POCKET FROM THE START, OUR TEST SERVER, THIS WEBSITE AND PUTTING WORKING HOURS. DONATIONS ARE OF COURSE OPENED AND WELCOME, BUT ONLY AS A SUPPORT GESTURE, WITHOUT BEING A CONDITION FOR ITS REALIZATION.

WHAT STAGE IS THE PROJECT AT?

WE CAN SAY THAT IT IS AT 95% AT THE MOMENT. WE HAVE BEEN HOSTING OUR OWN BETA/TEST SERVER FOR MORE THAN A MONTH NOW, COLLECTING LIVE FEEDBACK, TESTING THE SERVER/CLIENT PERFORMANCE AND ADJUSTING SOME LAST DETAILS. CHERNARUS LITE IS NOT AN EXPRESSION OF DESIRE OR A LOST IDEA. THE RELEASE INFORMATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED ALONG WITH AN INSTALLATION TUTORIAL WHEN ITS READY. FOR NOW, WE ARE WAITING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE 1.19 UPDATE TO ADAPT WHAT IS NECESSARY BEFORE ITS RELEASE.

CAN I USE IT ON MY MODDED SERVER?

DEFINITELY. WHETHER YOU ARE IN PC, PLAYSTATION OR XBOX, IN A MODDED OR VANILLA SERVER, CHERNARUS LITE CAN BE USED ANYWHERE. ONCE WE RELEASE OUR FIRST PUBLIC BUILD, ALL THE FILES WILL BE PUBLISHED. WE WILL THEN TRY TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND HELP TO PEOPLE THAT WANT TO TRY IT OUT, BUT SINCE IT WILL BE AN "OPEN-SOURCE PROJECT", WE BELIEVE THAT ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO IMPROVE, ENHANCE OR MODIFY IT.

WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE FILES?

THE FILES ARE NOT YET PUBLISHED BECAUSE WE WANT TO REACH A “FINAL” BUILD, BUT ONCE THAT STAGE HAS BEEN REACHED ALL THE FILES WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE FILES SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE, OUR GITHUB, THE DISCORD AND OF COURSE AS A “MOD” IN THE STEAM WORKSHOP.

IS CHERNARUS LITE A REVOLUTIONARY IDEA?

NOT REALLY. WE HAVE PUT ALL OUR EFFORT, TIME AND DEDICATION TO MAKE THIS SOMETHING INTERESTING, WELL PRESENTED AND USEFUL FOR THE DAYZ COMMUNITY, BUT WE ARE JUST REGULAR DAYZ PLAYERS LIKE YOU, WITH PROBABLY MORE INCENTIVE AND HARD WORK THAN TALENT. WE HIGHLY VALUE THE TOOLS THAT THE COMMUNITY (AND THE DEVS) HAVE OFFERED US TO MAKE THIS EVEN POSSIBLE. IF A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE FIND THIS IDEA INTERESTING AND USEFUL FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES, WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY WITH WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR. WE SIMPLY COME TO TRY TO FILL WHAT WE BELIEVE IS A GAP.
